London Electric Vehicle Company – a new green mobility solution

The iconic London Taxi Company (LTC) became the London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) in July 2017.

The name change represents the commitment by LEVC to become the leading producer of new energy focused urban commercial vehicles.

Realizing green tech in urban environments

London Electric Vehicle Company is a subsidiary of Geely Commercial Vehicle Group, a group dedicated to the realization of new energy commercial vehicles.

The London Electric Vehicle Company have become leaders of light weight vehicle and range extending powertrain technologies at their Coventry, UK base.

Introducing the TX

The TX is is the fifth generation of London Taxi and the first to be zero emission capable. The TX uses LECV’s eCity technology. Range extended technology allows the TX to travel over 70 miles on pure electric power alone whilst the small gasoline engine provides a further 400 miles range, essentially allowing the TX to travel from London to Edinburgh or London to Paris without stopping for fuel, allowing drivers and operators to make substantial savings each week compared to traditional diesel taxi vehicles.

New LEVC Site

From 2014 to 2019, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group invested over £480m in LEVC with  £250m going to a new LEVC site producing the next-generation green cab and £50m for the development of a R&D centre focused on range-extension and lightweight technologies. The new 85,000 square meters facility in Ansty, Coventry opened its doors in March 2017 and has been producing the next generation of zero emission capable taxi vehicles since. The first TX eCity London Taxi allowed to pick up passengers hit the roads of London on December 05 2017.
