2024 September 9th, Hangzhou, China – Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (Geely Holding) announced today that aggregate sales for August 2024 across its automotive brands reached 271,926 vehicles, a 14.9% YoY increase. Cumulative sales in the first eight months of 2024 reached 2,011,392 units, a YoY increase of 21.6% with electrified vehicles accounting for 823,654 units, a YoY increase of 48.5%. Among the month’s aggregated sales, electrified (EVs, HEV, PHEVs) vehicles reached 127,133 vehicles, representing a YoY increase of 51.7% and representing 46.8% of the Group sales. Sales of vehicles in markets outside of China also saw significant growth reaching 796,111 units in the first eight months of the year, a YoY increase of 24.3%.

Unit Sales Details

Geely Auto, the Hong Kong-listed holding company (HK.0175) that includes Lynk & Co and Zeekr, reported August 2024 sales of 181,229 units, an approximately 21% YoY increase. Sales of electrified vehicle reached 75,484 units, an increase of 65% YoY and accounting for 41.6% of the company’s total monthly sales. Lynk & Co, the company’s premium brand sold 22,528 units, a 20% YoY increase. The company’s high-end premium electric mobility technology brand, Zeekr sold 18,015 units, a YoY increase of 46%.

Volvo Cars sold 52,944 vehicles globally in August, a YoY increase of 3% with electrified vehicles accounting for 47% of its total. The brand has been able to achieve growth in month driven by strong demand for its fully electric models in Europe.

Proton Cars, of which Geely Auto Group controls 49.9% in partnership with DRB-HICOM, recorded August sales of 12,690 units, solidifying its position as the second largest vehicle seller in Malaysia with a market share figure of 19%. Strong demand for the PROTON X50 drove the brand’s sales in August after a recent refresh of the popular model in June.
