2024 June 11th, Hangzhou, China – Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (Geely Holding) announced today that aggregate sales for May 2024 across its automotive brands – Geely Auto, LYNK & CO, Zeekr, Volvo Cars, Polestar, PROTON, Lotus, smart, Radar, LEVC, and Farizon reached 256,556 vehicles, a 22.2% YoY increase. Among the month’s aggregated sales, electrified (EVs, HEV, PHEVs) vehicles reached 110,681 vehicles, representing a year-on-year increase of 59% and representing 43% of the Group sales.
Unit Sales Details
Geely Auto, the Hong Kong-listed holding company (HK.0175) that includes Lynk & Co and Zeekr, reported May 2024 sales of 160,658 units, an approximately 38% YoY increase. Sales of electrified vehicle reached 58,673 units, an increase of 146% YoY and accounting for 36.5% of the company’s total monthly sales. Lynk & Co, the company’s premium brand sold 21,778 units, a 50% YoY increase. The company’s high-end premium electric mobility technology brand, Zeekr sold 18,616 units, a YoY increase of 115% and new record high for the young brand.
Volvo Cars sold 68,034 vehicles globally in April, a YoY increase of 13% with electrified vehicles accounting for 48% of its total. Thanks to the strong performance of the brand in Europe and its fully electric EX30 model, electrified vehicle sales for Volvo reached 139,286 units so far in the year, a YoY increase of 24%.
Proton Cars, of which Geely Auto Group controls 49.9% in partnership with DRB-HICOM, recorded May sales of 12,522 units, a 13.6% YoY increase. New PROTON models help the brand maintain their position as market leader with the Proton X90 regaining its position as Malaysia’s most popular D-segment SUV and the Proton S70 retaining its position as the leader of the C-segment sedan market.
