• Lynk & Co’s ZERO concept production body-in-white rolls off the assembly line just 4 weeks after the concept was unveiled ahead of the Beijing Auto Show
  • Production version of the concept model is expected to launch in the second half of next year
  • Premium electric coupe to boast both high level of tech and performance credentials

Hangzhou, October 26, 2020. The first production body-in-white (BIW) of Lynk & Co’s first premium pure-electric coupe ZERO Concept rolled off the line at the Hangzhou Bay Facility, marking the first steps for mass production of the vehicle.

Body-in-white refers to the body structure, and other covering parts including the roof, fenders, hood, trunk and doors but does not include the accessories or decorative parts. These parts of the vehicle are absolutely fundamental as they greatly affect the overall drive experience and are responsible for the safety of occupants.

The BIW of the ZERO concept mass production version uses a large number of new materials and production innovations providing enhanced strength and improved lightweight qualities.

One example of this is the honeycomb steel plate structure on the chassis, which not only reduces the vehicle’s overall weight, but also serves to protect the battery in the event of a collision. To further increase passenger safety, the combination of a steel-aluminum body prevents the cockpit from deforming.

The production version of the ZERO concept reduces weight through the use of lightweight material technologies, innovative body structure, and new manufacturing techniques. An example of this is the use of the self-piercing riveting process, commonly used in the aviation industry for maximum weight reduction.

Much like the other cars in the Lynk & Co range, the ZERO concept mass-production version was developed with safety in mind, down to the smallest details. The Zero concept production version fully implements the brand’s “Global Safety Concept”. Lynk & Co models developed on the SEA will offer global safety standards inherited from Volvo and vehicles bodies produced to meet all global safety regulations providing world-class, comprehensive protection for drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.

Positioned as a premium electric coupe, the ZERO concept has both, an abundance of tech and exceptional performance. The vehicle takes autonomous driving to the next level and can support complete firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updates, while also being offering long range battery capacity (700km+) and an acceleration time of 0-100km/h in less than 4 seconds. Adding to its highly customizable premium user experience, the ZERO concept has a number of leading technologies, such as fully automated air suspension adjustment and ‘frameless’ electric doors. The SEA has allowed for a perfect 50:50 body weight ratio, body length of 4950mm, and ultra-long wheel base of 2999mm.

The launch of the premium pure electric coupe ZERO concept will mark the beginning of Lynk & Co’s journey into an era of intelligent, pure electric vehicles. The mass production of Lynk & Co’s ZERO concept production vehicle will officially begin in 2021.
