Geely Group Motorsport announces the completion of a brand new Lynk & Co 03 TCR race car that will be made available to customer teams worldwide.
“This is a first and important step for the newly formed Geely Group Motorsport. We will offer the all-new and agile Lynk & Co 03 model as a race car to customer teams in international and national series throughout the world in strong competition against other global automotive brands,” said Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, Head of Motorsport at Geely Group Motorsport.
The race car is based on the all-new and agile Lynk & Co 03 road car and is developed by Geely Group Motorsport to the hugely successful and global touring car regulations TCR.
The TCR regulations are used in the World Cup of touring car racing (FIA WTCR) as well as a wide variety of national championships throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.
The first customer cars have already been applied for by the reigning World Champions of touring car racing, Cyan Racing. The Swedish team will take delivery of the first cars in 2019 before the start of the FIA WTCR season.
Development of the Lynk & Co 03 TCR race car started in early 2018 by Geely Group Motorsport and the race car features a two-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 350 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. The car is front-wheel driven and is equipped with a six-speed sequential gearbox. The total weight is 1265 kilos including driver as per the regulations.
The cost of the car is 130,000€, as per the TCR cost cap and interested customers are invited to contact Geely Group Motorsport.
