20th March 2018 Hangzhou, China. Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (ZGH) has created a new department, Geely Group Motorsport, to handle strategic alignment on motorsport activities for the brands within the group and has appointed Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin as Head of Motorsport.

“We have created this group in order to take the next step forward for the Geely Group regarding motorsport operations, enabling us to focus resources and expertise, plan more efficiently and to maximise the outcome of our efforts,” said Mr. Victor Yang, Vice President of Communications at Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.

“We are also very happy to welcome Alexander to head the new team; we have gained an experienced motorsport manager with a proven sporting and commercial track record.”

The new department will be run out of both Hangzhou, China, and Gothenburg, Sweden.

As a result of this development, Polestar, the electric performance brand of Volvo Cars, will not take part in the 2018 FIA World Touring Car Cup and all of its motorsport activities will be moved within the Geely Group.

Cyan Racing, the team that represented Volvo Cars and Polestar in the FIA World Touring Car Championship and which won both World Titles in 2017, will continue to work as the official motorsport partner to Geely Group Motorsport.

Further information on Geely Group Motorsport activities for 2018 and beyond will be communicated in due course.
