- Geely Holding rises 67 places to 343rd in 2017 Fortune Global 500
- Geely Holding listed on Fortune Global 500 for sixth consecutive years
20 July 2017, Hangzhou, China. Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (Geely Holding) rose 67 places from the previous year to become ranked 343rd in the 2017 Fortune Global 500 with 2016 revenue of US$31.4 billion. The group first entered the Fortune Global 500 in 2012 and has stayed on the list for 6 consecutive years.
Geely Holding had a very successful year in 2016 with its subsidiaries Geely Auto and Volvo Cars seeing record breaking sales. Geely Auto sold record high 765,970 vehicles, a 50.2% YoY increase. Volvo Cars sold 523,332 vehicles, a 6.2% YoY increase and broke their sales record for a third consecutive year.
During the first half of 2017, Geely Holding also saw strong growth. In just six months, Geely Auto sales reached 530,627 vehicles, an 89% YoY increase. Following Geely Auto’s success, the company raised its 2017 sales target by 100,000 to 1.1 million vehicles. Volvo Cars saw tremendous growth as well with sales reaching 277,641 vehicles, an 8.2 YoY increase. They also saw their sales in the Chinese market increase by 27.6%.
