Geely Holding Group and Xin Da Yang today officially launched the D2, the first mini electric vehicle under the joint venture that the two companies established earlier this year. The D2, designed specifically for short-distance urban travel, is the latest in a series of vehicles which Geely Holding Group and Xin Da Yang hope will revolutionise city-dwellers’ transport choices and build a more environmentally-friendly urban transport network.
The D2’s compact, intelligent design allows drivers to optimize their driving route through town, by making parking and navigating the narrowest of urban streets easy. In addition to its impressive environmental credentials – the vehicle can cover 180km on just one charge and uses just 8kw of electricity for every 100km travelled. The D2 is equipped with an advanced driver assistance system, making it one of the safest models in its class.
Building on the success of the D1, launched last year,the D2 brings the series well and truly into the age of the Internet of Things. Full mobile Internet connectivity allows the driver to control the vehicle remotely – including the air conditioning – and an in-car system facilitates phone calls and voice messages. Meanwhile, alarm and driver ID systems bringthe D2’s security in line with conventional vehicles.
Reflecting the forward thinking behind the D2, Geely Holding Group and Xindayang have set up a closed O2O loop to provide customers with a multitude of buying options. In addition to Xin Da Yang’s 400 experience centres, as of today customers can purchase the D2 via three ecommerce platforms: the Geely Tmall.com store, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China’s e-commerce platform, and new energy vehicle onli
