2020 June, Hangzhou, China. Geely Holding strategically invested green mobility service, CAOCAO Mobility passed its five-year anniversary in late May 2020.
Earlier in the year, following the outbreak of Covid-19 around the world and the subsequent restrictions on travel, CAOCAO Mobility, like many other businesses, experienced a temporary slowdown in its operations. In May, the mobility service reported that they were back to full operational capacity and has now hit a new record high of 2 million user requests per day.
CAOCAO mobility launched in 2015 under Geely Technology Group as a strategic entry into mobility services and expanding the utilization of green vehicles. Over the past five years of operations CAOCAO Mobility is one of the few services to have received official operating licenses from government agencies in all of the cities it operates in across China. To date, CAOCAO Mobility has been made available in more than 57 cities across China, in total utilizing around 50,000 zero-emission capable green vehicles.
By the end of 2019, CAOCAO Mobility had completed over 167 million orders with a total distance traveled of over 1.48 billion kilometers, saving over 210,000 tons of CO2 when compared to traditional gasoline vehicles. CAOCAO Mobility is on track to expand internationally with trial operations beginning in Paris and expansion to other European cities planned in due course.
In a broadening of its service offerings, CAOCAO Mobility has also recently allowed private electric car owners to join the service as drivers, whom are expected to undergo the same rigorous training process as drivers directly employed by the company. To date over 150,000 electric vehicle drivers have joined the service as alliance vehicles. CAOCAO Mobility has also integrated access to the Geely Technology Group and Daimler Mobility’s high-end joint venture mobility service StarRides into its platform to give consumers an even wider range of mobility offerings from mass market to a high-end luxury experience with Mercedes-Benz-branded vehicles.
